Woraiyur Vekkali Amman Temple

Woraiyur Vekkali Amman Temple From Tiruchirappalli

The Vekkali Amman Temple is unique for its roofless structure, featuring the Moolavar open to the sky, where Mother Vekkali Amman is depicted with her left leg on a demon and her right leg bent, and devotees tie their written grievances to a trident, believing the goddess will address their issues while lighting lamps for marriage obstacles and children’s problems.

The Vekkali Amman Temple has been conducting the Sarva Chandi Homam for the past 23 years in the month of Avani (August-September). Additionally, it hosts a five-day festival in Chithirai (April-May) and celebrates Panguni Poochoridal in March-April, during which the goddess is adorned with an abundance of colorful flowers. Other notable celebrations include the Mango Abishek on the last Friday of Vaikasi (May-June), Navarathri in Purattasi (September-October), as well as special observances on Fridays in Thai (January-February) and on Fridays and Tuesdays in Aadi (July-August).
